Admin Manual 06: Audit Trail & Forensics (/admin/audit-trail)

The Audit Trail provides an immutable, tenant-isolated audit log tracking all operational transactions, security events, role modifications, and administrative settings changes.

🎯 Key Capabilities

1. Document Forensics & Traceability

  • Reference Number Search: Search logs by transaction serial number (e.g. INV-20002, SO-10002, PO-10001, JE-120001, PAYSLIP/2026/04-001).
  • Lifecycle Tracking: Trace every document modification from initial creation (Draft) to approval (Approved), GL posting (Posted), or cancellation (Cancelled).
  • Delivery Note & GRN Traceability: Trace physical Goods Receipt Notes and Delivery Notes back to original Sales/Purchase order numbers.

2. Security & User Action Logs

  • Record user logins, logout timestamps, failed authentication attempts, role reassignments, user deactivations, and custom sidebar menu edits.

3. Payload Inspection Modal

  • Click any audit log row to open the Metadata Payload Inspector.
  • View complete before_state vs. after_state JSON payloads, user ID, user role, timestamp (UTC & GST), and client IP address.

🔒 Audit Immutability Rules

  • Audit logs are read-only and cryptographically isolated by company_id.
  • Tenant Admins cannot edit, truncate, or delete audit records.
  • Records are permanently retained for regulatory tax and financial compliance audits.
